In the evening on April 12, Foundation Day of Plast – National Scout Organization of Ukraine, the first meeting of Plast Advisory Board (an advisory body of the organization) in 2016 was held. The Advisory Board includes leaders of Ukrainian society whose opinion is important for many people.
The meeting of the Advisory Board was attended by 15 people, each professional in their field. Among the participants – MPs of Ukraine, Ambassadors, media, economists and social activists, including well-known economist and philanthropist Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Roman Washchuk, HR Director of Mondelez International Oksana Semenuk and CEO of Nielsen Ukraine Svyatoslava Svyst, a member of the supervisory board of the CF “Kolo” and Ukrainian deputies Yaroslav Markevich and Ivan Kulko. Representatives of businesses, churches, government and the public sector agreed to help “Plast”, promote patriotic education of Ukrainian youth based on Christian principles, educate conscious and responsible citizens.
Member of Nestor Group Eugene Hlibovitsky also joined the Advisory Board and despite he was unable to be present at the meeting, he confirmed his intention to work on vision and values of the Plast.
In the course of the meeting activities of Plast for the past years and the development strategy for 2016-2018 were presented. Current problems and challenges of the organization were actively discussed.
The event reached its high point during the debate on practical steps to address the challenges in cooperation with public authorities, businesses, churches and the media.
Many leaders, activists passed through Plast. That’s why we all have to help our organization, – said Bohdan Hawrylyshyn during the meeting.
Ivan Kulko also noticed that scouting must become national strategy of youth development in Ukraine.
From words to deeds: the meeting ended, but many new ideas are to be realized to reanimate Ukrainian society and help generate new conscious citizens of Ukraine. Together we can do it!
