This is the second time the “Local Deputy’s School” project has united young Ukrainian activists. The School took the whole month – from 6 to 28 February and was separated in 3 two-day modules.

The School was participated by 70 young people who had been selected out of 143 applicants. Unexpectedly participants represented all parts of Ukraine, including Donetsk and Luhansk regions (see map attached).

Well-known experts, deputies, media experts and civic leaders were invited to speak to the young activists. Among them Rostyslav Pavlenko (deputy head of the President’s Administration), young MPs (Liliia Hrynevych, Yurii Makedon, Yurii Levchenko, Ivan Krulko, Yurii Chyzhmar), Yurii Henuschak (budget expert), Andrii Osipov (deputy of the Lutsk City Council), Olena Halushka (deputy of the Kyiv City Council), leaders of the “Power of People” political party (Oleh Kocherha). TV presenter Ilona Dovhan led a workshop on deputies’ cooperation with mass media.

A number of practical tasks were proposed to the participants of the School – to develop constituency data sheet and analyze the city/community/village social and economic development program for 2012/2013, 2014 and 2015.

All those engaged in the project presented themselves as strong and motivated people. The majority of participants are quite serious in their intentions to participate in 2015 local elections either as a candidate or a team member.

65 participants completed the training program and received corresponding certificates. Out of them 33 young activists were invited to join the “Young Generation Will Change Ukraine” program and discover local self-governance systems in Poland and Austria.
